Nú í ár mun Æringur koma sér fyrir í Frystiklefanum norðanmeginn við Snæfellsnes í sjávarþorpinu Rifi.
Frystiklefinn er leikhús í uppbyggingu sem eitt sinn þjónaði afurðum hafsins en hefur nú fengið upplyftingu og bíður öllum leikhópum, danshópum og listamönnum velkomin til starfa. Rýmið er stórt og býður upp á marga möguleika og hvetjum við því myndlistarmenn í öllum miðlum sem og leik og danshópa að sækja um.

Eins og áður er hátíðin staðbundin og munu listamennirnir dvelja um 10-14 daga á staðnum við vinnslu á verkum sínum: Verða fyrir áhrifum, anda að sér söltu sjávarloftinu og upplifa einstaka náttúru sem Snæfellsnes hefur upp á að bjóða.

Opnun hátíðarinnar verður Laugardaginn 7. júlí.

About the project:

Æringur in Rif is the third of an annual art exhibition held in the beginning of July every year. The festival is held in a different location each time and focuses on the smaller communities dotting the Icelandic coastline. Last year Æringur was held in Bolungarvík on the west coast of Iceland, with 17 artists from Iceland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway.

Æringur allows young and promising artists to experience the atmosphere outside the capital region and invites them into a space that was not necessarily intended for art exhibitions. It is conceived as a site-specific project that deals with the society and the environment it is held in. Therefore we encourage the artists to stay and work on their projects for at least 10 days before the opening. The artists are invited to arrive to Rif from the 23th of June to get acquainted with the town and its surroundings.

The exhibition opens on the 7nd of July and will be on display until the end of the month.
