Description
Saga Sigurdardottir made her professional dance education at the Icelandic Ballet School in Reykjavik, as a trainee with the Iceland Dance Company and then at ArtEZ Dansakademie in the Netherlands, from where she graduated as Dance-Maker in 2006.
Saga has since worked as freelance performer and choreographer with various artists in Iceland, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Germany, whereby most currently she has been involved in creations with artists /choreographers Alexandra Bachzetsis (CH) and Anat Eisenberg (IL/D).
Along with Magga Bjarnadóttir, Saga is one half of the Reykjavik based performance company saga&magga. Among their latest creations are "PRETTY BASSIC -a choreographed concert for two performers and two bass guitars" which premiered at the Reykjavik Dance Festival 09 in collaboration with composer Úlfur Hansson, and "Humanimal", a first offspring of theater collective Me and My Friends (www.meandmyfriends.org). For their work in Humanimal, saga&magga were awarded the Icelandic Theater Awards as Choreographers of the Year 2009.
Saga has been a guest teacher at the Iceland Academy of the Arts (BA dance department), as well as the Iceland Ballet School.
The most recent artistic engagement of Saga is her performance in "Bluff" by Alexandra Bachzetsis which premiered at Gessner Allee Theaterhaus in Zurich in November 2009.
