Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir

Description

Melkorka Sigríður Magnúsdóttir graduated from the classical department of the Icelandic ballet school in 2006. She studied choreography at the School for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam and dance at the Performing Arts Research and Training Studios (P.A.R.T.S.) in Brussels.

Melkorka has performed and choreographed various performances, which have been shown in Iceland and abroad. She’s worked and collaborated with choreographers such as Aitana Cordero, Martin Butler, Nestor Garcia and Wim Vandekeybus. Melkorka created the solo Take it Away as her graduation piece from P.A.R.T.S. which was shown both in Iceland and Belgium.
Melkorka is a member of the IceCorporation, an Icelandic performance group who experiments, expands and pushes the boundaries of dance with an emphasis on creativity and originality. The group was nominated for the Icelandic theater prize “Gríman” in 2009 and 2010 as “choreographer of the year”.

Melkorka sings and plays toy piano in a performance band called John the houseband. Members come from Iceland, Sweden, Spain and Germany.
